About

FUBELT are a four-piece from Cardiff forging a dark, unrelenting sound that fuses post-punk’s fervent urgency with the spectral haze of gothic shoegaze. Drawing on influences ranging from Protomartyr, Sonic Youth, and My Bloody Valentine, the band write songs that brood on the edge of collapse—both societal and personal. Their lyrics confront themes of existential dread, moral ambiguity, alienation, and the violence of modernity, all delivered through a wall-of-sound intensity that feels both intimate and apocalyptic.

Formed by Alex Harries and Emile Driscoll, alongside Sam West and Sam Fairclough, FUBELT came together while studying music at the University of South Wales. Supporting acts such as Saloon Dion, Papa Jupe’s T.C., and Penny Rich, their live performances are marked by cathartic power and restless intensity. The release of their debut single “Unrepentant” in May 2025 marked a bold opening statement. A haunting, punishing track that signals the band’s refusal to compromise.

FUBELT position themselves as a band uninterested in trend-chasing or easy categorisation, offering instead something raw, literate, and emotionally unflinching. With more shows and releases planned throughout 2025, FUBELT are building something darker, deeper, and far more dangerous.
